FIRST FLASH

I’m taking this time that I have during spring break (I’m a teacher) to build my website. My goal is to launch it on May 1st – in time for Mothers Day – and honor three moms that are very special to me. I’m on my way to visit my mother who lives in Eureka Springs, Arkansas: 2 flights and a 1 hour drive away and I’ll be amongst nature in a quieter, simpler world where, believe it or not, some people don’t own cell phones or laptops and Twitter is what you hear from the birds outside your bedroom window.

I grew up in Eureka Springs; population 2,581, a surprisingly eclectic community of artists, locals, retirees, and folks who were considered “anti-establishment” in the 60’s & 70’s who, as they aged, became the new establishment of business owners. A surprising feeling of calm overcomes me as I utter a sigh of relief upon landing and know that within an hour I will be able to step out on my deck and absorb the beauty with my eyes and the pure air into my polluted lungs.
