Silver Oak 2011 Alexander Valley

Before you settle into the Super Bowl game and football food action, a gentle reminder that next weekend is Valentine’s weekend and if you haven’t made a plan for treating your sweetie to something special, you should get on that. Many romantic, fine dining restaurants are already booked – I dined at Selanne’s Steak Tavern on Thursday with some friends and they already had a waitlist of 50 parties!

We rarely dine out on actual Valentine’s Day because it’s so crowded and prix fixe menus aren’t always the best for people on special diets, so it’s kind of a good thing that V-Day is on Sunday because that gives celebrants three days/evenings to express their love. Flowers, jewelry, champagne, chocolates, spa day, tickets to a big game or concert, spending alone time together – these are all tried and true ways to a girl’s heart (guys too!).

I have some news for Orange County oenophiles, aka wine connoisseurs, and lovers of Cabernet Sauvignon in particular – Balboa Bay Resort is launching their 2016 Winemaker Dinner series at Waterline with a bang! A most well-timed bang, too. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, BBR is hosting a Silver Oak and Twomey wine dinner on Friday, February 12th. Guests will delight in a delicious reception and four-course wine dinner along the waterfront at Waterline Newport Beach featuring two Napa Valley giants – Silver Oak Winery and Twomey Cellars. Chef Rachel Haggstrom has conceived a suitably grand menu for the occasion. Don and I hope to see you there!

One of the most sought after Cabs on the market, Silver Oak has been producing exceptional, food-friendly Cabernets for over 40 years. As distinctive as they are delicious, Silver Oak’s Alexander Valley and Napa Valley Cabernet wines are extensively aged to be drinkable upon release which making them perfect for big dinners or impromptu celebrations. If you can’t make it to the dinner, a gift of Silver Oak’s coveted Cabernet has special occasion written all over its beautifully etched label.
