Hot Dancing + Chilled Martinis

Sounds good to me! How about you?

This week’s obsession….

Select from a dazzling array of handcrafted martinis and a special tasting menu every Friday and Saturday in the Great Room at The Resort at Pelican Hill while Adam Michaelson entertains you with hot dance tunes and favorites from the great American Song Book.

I asked The Don to join me for a cocktail last week – it was our first outing since his hospital stay and I knew he would find it calming to look out over Pelican Hill’s spectacular Fazio-designed golf course and the breathtaking views of the Pacific from the Andrea Lounge. And he did. He reminisced about playing the golf course when the club house was a mere trailer and the day that he and a buddy were playing the course and spotted O.J. (yes, that O.J.) during the trial. His buddy called his assistant, who called one of the local networks, and within minutes helicopters were swirling overhead – sorry, O.J., you didn’t deserve a peaceful day of golf. But I digress…

We sipped on Milans – a refreshing, handcrafted strawberry, basil, elderflower martini in hushed luxury prior to joining the other OC Family bloggers that were invited for a tour of the resort and sample tasting from the small plates menu at 8:00p.m. The small plates menu consists of featured pizza, pasta, and risotto specials created by the chefs of Andrea, led by Luca Cesarini, whose culinary team is dedicated to serving the finest local ingredients and time-honored traditions with one goal in mind – to craft dishes bursting with the true flavors of Northern Italy.

Seated near the windows with glasses of Prosecco, we savored spicy Calabria Spicy Sausage and Mozzarella pizza and a delicately flavored White Pizza with Prosciutto, Burrata, and Arugula. Pasta  dishes included a Penne with Roasted Eggplant, Tomato and Burrata and a robust Rigatoni, Pork Sausage, Fennel Seeds, Olives and Tuscan Pecorino that certainly warrants a second visit.

You don’t have to be a guest at the resort, Pelican Hill is open to the public and if you’re looking for a romantic and luxurious spot seemingly at top of the world, I recommend you put on your dancin’ shoes and grab your favorite boogie partner because the cocktails are chillin’ and the dance floor could use some heating up!

Friday and Saturday nights

8:30 – 10:30 p.m.

I feel a road trip coming on. That place is gorgeous! While the food looks great, I’m afraid I’d be all for the drinks. Especially with such yummy looking handcrafted Milans.
