Yesterday was National Cheese Day and if you missed out on an excuse to eat cheese with abandon, no worries, sometimes important celebrations, like checking out the new Provisions Market in Old Towne Orange or splurging on a gourmet cheese plate while tasting new and intriguing craft beers have to wait for the weekend! I suggest you make it a memorable weekend and head over to haven collective‘s bottle shop and specialty market and see what all the excitement is about – it’s the only market where you can walk in and pick up everything you need for a proper meal: fresh bread, cheese, charcuterie, beer, wine and chocolate, and, if time permits, linger a bit longer for a quick quaff and small plate in the tasting room.
Provisions Market, which opens (or opened, depending on when you’re reading this) its doors in Old Towne Orange today, Wednesday, June 5th at 10 a.m. (143 N. Glassell Street, Orange). For the Grand Opening, complimentary Portola Coffee will be available. Plus, insanely fly-off-the-rack good Sidecar Doughnuts has partnered with Provisions to have their signature doughnuts sold on site and the first two dozen customers on Opening Day receive a complimentary doughnut!
According to Managing Partner/Beverage Director, Wil Dee, Provisions will feature more than 200 bottled craft beers for retail purchase, alongside 30 rotating beers on tap to complement those of its neighboring Haven Gastropub. Not to mention the deep selection of wine, for both in-house consumption and retail purchase.
Executive Chef Greg Daniels will oversee the culinary aspect of the operation, with a selection of more than 60 cheeses, charcuterie, fresh breads, deli sandwiches, open-faced “toasts,” and prepared foods.
Speaking for himself and his partners Wil Dee and Ace Patel, Chef Daniels explains that their vision of Provisions is about “community and togetherness – our market will feature retail products from local artisan partners, including Valenza Chocolatier, B. toffee, Blackmarket Bakery, OC Baking Company, Sidecar Doughnuts, Portola Coffee Lab, and Little Stinker Clothing. “We’re focused on delivering a quality culinary selection that presents our riff on classic deli foods,” explained Chef Daniels, who oversees the kitchens at Haven Gastropub in Orange and Pasadena, as well as taco asylum in Costa Mesa. “

At an early evening media preview guests were able to see what changes haven collective has made to the space formerly occupied by The Bruery and delight in a few small tastes – just enough to titillate our senses and peak our foodie radar. Jeff Duggan of Portola Coffee Lab was on hand to serve small samples of their cult coffee – Provisions planned growth includes a full-service coffee bar to be operated by Portola Coffee later this summer. This new addition will be the Costa Mesa-based company’s second location and its skilled baristas will oversee full operation of this unique bar to deliver a rich experience focused on their Portola-roasted coffee and inspired brewing techniques. Portola Owners Jeff and Christa Duggan are intent on bringing their unique craft brew coffee experience to the Old Towne Orange community.
Provisions Market is located at 143 N. Glassell Street in Old Towne Orange.
Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday,
10 a.m. to midnight Thursday through Saturday

I LOVE markets like this..all kinds of unique and delicious goodies overwhelming me in a good way! If I was in SoCal..I’d be all over those Habanero & Beet Pickled Deviled Eggs, and, of course..the Burrata! Your post has made me want to take the hour drive to a similar market upstate NY that’s unbelievable. It’s been way too long..I need a food ‘discovery’ endeavor and spend lots of money at it, day 🙂
