If you like Vietnamese food, and want a taste of authentic Vietnamese street food, then definitely add the Little Saigon Night Market to your summer bucket list!
Grilled Calamari
Little Saigon in Westminster is home to the largest Vietnamese population outside of Vietnam and visitors to the night market can savor an array of authentic Vietnamese street food while enjoying a beautiful summer’s evening outdoors, fun people watching, meandering vendor tables and kitschy booths filled with trinkets, games and clothing, along with live Vietnamese entertainment. Fun for all ages, the night market is free to the public and runs every weekend (Friday-Sunday, 7-11 p.m.), beginning in June and continuing through Labor Day weekend.
You’ll find a variety of sweet and savory Vietnamese street fare and Vietnamese/Asian drinks, including Vietnamese desserts drinks (che) and milk tea.
Come early for the best parking! As the sun drops in the western sky, local residents fill the front lot of the Asian Garden Mall on Bolsa.
Grab some bites and walk around or sit down at the tables available around the venue. Go slow as there is much to be savored, both sweet and savory.
Thịt Nướng (grilled pork skewers)
Khoai Tây Chiên (tornado fries)
Always a savory, my favorites are the grilled lobster tail ($8 for one) and the Vietnamese pizza – of course!
Grilled Lobster Tail
Bánh Tráng Nướng (roasted rice paper aka Vietnamese pizza)
You’ll also find grilled shrimp (or are those prawns?) and corn – which seems to span all cultures as the universal street food!
Bắp Xào – grilled corn with green onion oil
Thank you to our hosts from the Asian Garden Mall who were excited to share as many of their specialities as they could!
Bánh tráng kẹo mạch nha (crispy rice cake with coconut & malt sugar)
Bánh kẹp lá dứa (coconut pandan waffles)
Bánh mì nướng muối ớt (Vietnamese baguette with shredded pork and spicy sauce)
Details: No admission fee. Free parking is available alongside the Asian Garden Mall – arriving early is recommended. Make sure to stop by the ATM before coming as they accept CASH only!
