This week’s obsession….

Our second evening of eating like a local in Cannes: La Cave , a tiny, lively old-style bistro serving classic French food and wine. Amazing how in an unbelievably modest sized open kitchen and service area, 2 chefs and 3 waiters can efficiently create and serve flavorful and filling plates to a packed restaurant all the while remaining amiable and attentive!

Pictured above: Duck Breast with Honey sauce and below: Loin of Veal with Mushrooms. I only wish we had a larger party so we could have ordered more.

One of the most popular restaurants in Cannes; La Cave is listed in the 10Best of Cannes and numerous other Cannes and travel websites. ” Chef Philippe Vergnes continues to confidently cook the dishes that have made the reputation of the place: stuffed sardines with wild herbs; cod Provençal; tomato cake; stuffed cabbage, aioli, pot-au-feu; lamb stuffed with artichokes; clafoutis, chocolate mousse… tranquil cooking, well presented. The wine card is the pride of this address: as rich in Bordeaux as in Provence domains, with grand crus and some nice Provence by the glass.” Le Guide Gantié

Priscilla…this is perfect timing…my little Brother just left for Cannes on business and he always seeks the more local flare. I’ll be emailing him next with the address. These dishes look amazing…thanks ;o)

    Have a great week,

@Claudia – La Cave was the total Parisian bistro feel with authentic Provencal cuisine and a fabulous wine list. For seafood, we were directed to Gaston Gastounette and were not disappointed!
