Turmeric Tea | ShesCookin.com

Turmeric is the main spice in curry and the tea made from turmeric root is referred to by some as “liquid gold” due to its many healing properties. Turmeric is a member of the ginger family and in its raw form is a knobby orange root from India – its health benefits are derived largely from the renowned healing compound curcumin.

Turmeric tea is highly anti-inflammatory and a popular beverage in Asia where TCM (traditional Chinese medicine) is practiced alongside Western medicine. “It is arguably the most powerful herb on the planet at fighting and reversing disease. It has so many healing properties that currently there have been 6,235 peer-reviewed articles published proving the benefits of turmeric.” {Source: Dr. Josh Axe}

I’m always up for integrating any antioxidant-rich natural compound that can aid detoxification and potentially help prevent disease which is why I drink matcha lattes and green tea on a regular basis – made at home with high quality organic matcha and the green leaf tea from China, not Starbucks. All those antioxidants can only do a body good!

Now I’ve added turmeric tea to my in-house healing elixirs. Easy as 1, 2, 3 to make, I’m sharing the recipe here so you can fight colds and flu like a ninja warrior! It will also help heal your body from a number of inflammatory health conditions. Coconut-almond milk from Almond Breeze makes for a satisfying, creamy tea with a touch of sweetness from honey.

Creamy, slightly sweet turmeric tea is full of antioxidants and healing properties that can help defend you from winter's cold and flu season!
Course: Drinks
Servings: 2 cups
Author: Priscilla
Ingredients
  • 1 cup Almond Breeze coconut-almond milk
  • 1/2 cup filtered water
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup for vegan
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh turmeric root
Instructions
  1. Combine the coconut-almond milk and honey in a teapot or saucepan. Add the turmeric to the tea strainer and heat over low heat until warmed through and milk is a golden color. About 5 minutes. Do not boil.
Recipe Notes

No worries, if you don't have a tea pot with a tea strainer, combine all the ingredients in a small saucepan and heat.

Just drinking this healing beverage makes me feel healthier 🙂 Enjoy!

    Loved this article. My husband has some arthritis so I am thinking this would be a great tea for him. If I do not currently have fresh numeric but do have some of the dried ground already, would that work? How much would I use of it?
