Sunday’s should be all about kicking back, relaxing and \u00a0spending time with family and friends while enjoying a leisurely mid-day meal. Add a fabulous \u00e0\u00a0la carte<\/em> brunch (no buffets please) and the soulful, sweet, sultry sounds of a professional jazz trio and you have a Sunday to beat all Sundays.<\/p>\n

Sunday Funday begins with a sparkling glass of champagne or a bracing Bloody Mary… or, if tequila is your calling – Bloody Maria or, for whiskey fans – the Scotch Mary.\u00a0Before you can make any decisions about food, order up the libation of your choice to stimulate the appetite. What better way than a flute of champagne, a Bloody Mary or Mimosa, or cup of coffee if you’re not quite with it yet. Bloody Mary’s ($9) are prepared table side and you have a choice of Tito’s vodka, Cazadores blanco tequila or the Black Grouse scotch as your base. This morning, I was all in with tequila – it was noon after all and I had already had my two cups of caffeine.<\/p>\n

\"Tableside<\/p>\n

When your server visits again, place your order for an appetizer or first course, if you choose the 3-course brunch. I was so hungry that I couldn’t wait for my friend before ordering, and the Cured Gravlax Bruchetta with egg salad was calling my name – followed by the Dungenesse Crab and Shrimp Louie salad as my entree. After being sick for nearly a week, I needed some sustenance, but nothing too rich or heavy, and these two seafood dishes were the perfect antidote.<\/p>\n

\"Smoked<\/p>\n

For Sunday Jazz Brunch, Executive Chef Mike Doctulero prepares a three-course menu <\/strong>($39)\u00a0with beginnings that include wood fired shrimp, skillet baked sticky buns, Shigoku oyster quartets on the half shell and braised pork belly.\u00a0 Main events feature a Shrimp Cake Benedict, Maine half lobster tail, pulled pork pancakes and braised beef short ribs.\u00a0 For dessert, Scott\u2019s famous cheesecake stuffed beignets, or choose from three other delectable selections that promise to spoil you. \u00a0There is also a wonderful selection of a la carte options which include Hokkaido scallops, Scott\u2019s calamari, seared Ahi, and the succulent Akaushi foie gras burger. \u00a0Brunch is $39 per person; a la carte options range from $13 \u2013 $35; endless mimosas $11; custom tableside bloody Mary $9; kid\u2019s menu $12.<\/p>\n

Desiring to keep it light and fulfill my craving for crunchy greens that I’ve had since returning from China,\u00a0I ordered the Cured Gravlax Bruschetta with Egg Salad and the \u00a0Shrimp & Crab Louie salad.<\/p>\n

\"Pulled<\/p>\n

For purposes of my heart healthy niche here on the web, I usually order dishes that are lighter and reasonably healthy. But, there’s that contingent that loves crazy rich “food porn”, so this one’s for you! My dining partner and I did not, for not even a minute, regret ordering this fluffy sweet savory stack of Southern-inspired goodness topped with the ubiquitous fried egg and doused with bourbon maple syrup and cubes of squash for good measure. Even one bite was heavenly! When the young guns are at home, you can bet I’ll whip up some of these bad boys just to see the look on their faces!<\/p>\n

\"Vegetable<\/p>\n

Other main dish choices include breakfast standards such as Eggs Benedict – only at Scott’s it’s a Shrimp Cake Benedict – and a Veggie Frittata or Spicy Linguica Hash; hearty mains like Akaushi Flank Steak with Chimichurri and Akaushi Short Rib with Mashed Potatoes, Foie Gras Burger; and for seafood lovers there’s the Half Main Lobster Tail, Seared Ahi or Grilled Barramundi. Dessert comes with the three-course menu, and don’t pass it up. Choose from the Cheesecake Stuffed Beignets, Cheesecake Stuffed Beignets, oh, oops. There are other choices, but I have had and always recommend the Cheesecake Stuffed Beignets!\u00a0The dessert selection changes seasonally, but currently you can also select Plum Upside Down Cake, Cheesecake with Berries, or Chocolate Terrine.<\/p>\n
