Weekend brunch at Del Frisco’s is an a la carte affair complete with build-your-own Bloody Marys, mimosas or sangria, and mouthwatering sweet and savory breakfast fare.

Look no further than Del Frisco’s Grille in Irvine – yes, Irvine Spectrum is home to the only Del Frisco’s Grille in Orange County. Del Frisco’s weekend brunch offers traditional and updated classics that demand a leisurely repast and offer an antidote for any unfortunate hangovers.

I said mouthwatering, right? Take a look at the to-die-for sweet and savory dishes that Executive Chef Sarah Daniels has created for all you hungry brunch lovers out there. I highly recommend having a party of 4 or more, so you can get a taste of all this goodness. Plus, plates like the Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs, Chorizo Gravy ($17.5) that far exceed an individual portion size and, for all intents and purposes, are designed for extreme athletes or field hands who need a meal that “sticks to the ribs”, should be shared. Just sayin’.

Two sunny-side up eggs on a bed of Southern fave chicken fried steak (steak breaded and prepared like fried chicken) smothered in spicy chorizo and beef gravy, crumbly cheddar herb biscuit, jalapeños and salsa for more fireworks. Yeah, this is what I’m talking about. ⇓⇓⇓

Those who lean toward a sweet pick-me-up will absolutely swoon at the Bananas Foster French Toast ($13.5) or Red Velvet BelgianWaffles ($14) – both served with Hickory-smoked thick sliced bacon. Of the sweeter brekkie dishes, the Banana Fosters French Toast was particularly noteworthy. Bananas Foster is a dessert made from bananas and vanilla ice cream, with a sauce made from butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, dark rum, and banana liqueur. It is arguably, the most famous New Orleans’ French Creole classics, first created in 1951 by chef Paul Blangé at legendary Brennan’s Restaurant. If you have ever experienced flaming Bananas Foster prepared table-side, you know how scrumptious it is and why it is a classic dessert. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a photo of the French toast alone, but it is shown in the “group” shot above.

Not to be missed, especially if you adore runny yolks, is the Crab Cake Benedict ($17.5) perched on toasted focaccia with asparagus in a puddle of Cajun Lobster Sauce. The “crab cake” is solid crab with plenty of focaccia to sop up that redolent Cajun sauce.

"Crab

The Build-Your-Own Bloody Mary is not your usual Bloody Mary bar, instead guests receive a carafe of Del Frisco’s Bloody Mary mix and a plate of fixins’. ($8/21) A little salty for my taste, I preferred the refreshing, peachy White Sangria.

Much of Del Frisco’s popular menu offerings are also available during brunch – their addictive Cheesesteak Eggrolls, Ahi Tacos, Salads, and “Two-Fisted” sandwiches.

If you’re a craft beer lover, Del Frisco’s hosts a brewery tasting dinner on the last Monday each month. May’s dinner featured Ballast Point Brewing & Spirits and a tantalizing menu by Chef Sarah Daniels. At $35, this four-course beer pairing dinner gives you the chance to discover new brews and taste creative 0ff-menu dishes from the talented kitchen. The next beer dinner is on June 27th, follow Del Frisco’s on Facebook so you don’t miss a thing.
