“People come to Moulin for more than French food, they come for a French experience; which we aim to deliver on every level,” explains Laurent who created Moulin out of his love for hometown Montmartre, Paris. “Our guests have an increased interest in our wine selection, so we decided to create an experience embracing that interest.”Priced at $29 per person, the interactive courses will guide guests on a tasting journey through the different growing regions. During each course, guests will taste 6-8 French wines as they learn to identify unique nuances and flavor profiles. The series goes beyond tasting notes, and dives deep into the growing region itself, touching on terroir and fermentation practices. Wines are complemented with Moulin’s artisanal cheese & charcuterie boards.
Moulin’s unique French wine selection is unparalleled in the county. Laurent has carefully sourced limited-production and boutique wines from France to develop the unmatched selection Moulin offers today. From effervescent Champagnes to robust, vintage Burgundies, the shelves at Moulin are filled with some of the very best wines France has to offer.
Moulin’s French wine tastings and education courses will be held on the following dates from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the Newport Beach location (1000 N. Bristol Street):
Saturday, October 22 – Bordeaux
Saturday, November 19, 2016 – Rhone Valley
Saturday, December 17, 2016 – ChampagneCourse availability is limited. Reservations can be made by calling 949-474-092.This week, Moulin opened its second location in the heart of Laguna Beach. The new location on Forest Avenue (248 Forest Ave, Laguna Beach, CA 92651) occupies the former Scandia Bakery location. Laurent Vrignaud’s new location offers a similar authentic French experience to his award-winning flagship store in Newport Beach, which won the award for Best French restaurant at the 5th Annual Golden Foodie Awards last weekend.
“Laguna Beach has a special place in my heart. Its unique, relaxed vibe reminds me of the seaside communities across France,” explains proprietor Laurent, who moved to Laguna Beach with his family in 2002. “In Laguna Beach, everyone walks about town, just as they do in the villages of France. For this reason, it has been my dream to recreate the cafe culture of coastal France here in Laguna Beach.”
In the mornings, guests will enjoy coffee and espresso beverages complemented with classic pâtisserie and boulangerie items as well as made-to-order crepes and waffles. Fresh baked breads and classic viennoiserie are available in the early mornings and continuously baked fresh throughout the day.
In the afternoons and evenings, Moulin serves its slow-cooked rotisserie chicken. A large window into the kitchen showcases rotisserie chicken turning on specialty ovens imported from France. Guests can enjoy a glass of French wine or beer complemented with cheese and charcuterie. Exclusive to the new Laguna Beach location are a selection of hand-crafted ice cream elegantly served in a traditional coupe glacée and a French hot dog featuring housemade sausage served in a fresh-baked baguette.
“Catering to the Laguna Beach lifestyle, Moulin will wake up and go to sleep with the city,” added Laurent. “Moulin Laguna Beach is a place designed by locals, for the locals.”
New additions to the iconic Laguna Beach locale include a front patio, stand-alone coffee bar, and exhibition window into the kitchen. Much like its flagship location in Newport Beach, the new Laguna Beach location delivers a French experience for all the senses. Within walking distance to Main Beach, much of Moulin’s menu is available to-go, much like many cafes in cities along coastal France.
Moulin Laguna Beach is located at 248 Forest Ave, Laguna Beach, CA 92651 and is open daily from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. For more information on both locations, please visit: www.moulinbistro.com
