The Grand Canyon Railway and Hotel, as well as the RV Park, are all open as of June 15, 2020.

Grand Canyon Railway Summer Getaway Package

Arizona residents can save 30 percent on all train fares.  In addition, a special Summer Getaway Package features a one or two-night escape that includes accommodations at Grand Canyon Railway and Hotel in Williams, dinner, breakfast, a Wild West Show, and roundtrip on the train to South Rim, Grand Canyon. Visit The Train website or call 1.800.THE TRAIN (1.800.843.8724) for updated and current information on both the hotel and the train.

COVID-10 Healthy and Safety Precautions

While Williams, The Grand Canyon Railway & Hotel, and one of the top train rides in the country are as memorable as always, the hotel and train will operate under strict conditions and safety precautions.

As a company that has operated for over 150 years in some of the most spectacular places on earth, The Grand Canyon Railway & Hotel takes pride in every aspect of its operations to deliver an unforgettable experience to its guests. From front-of-house staff to housekeepers to their kitchens, their focus on the health and safety of guests and employees has always been fundamental to operations as is their dedication to providing guests with the flexibility to modify, customize, or cancel reservations.

During the coronavirus pandemic, they are evaluating every aspect of their operations and taking steps to strengthen employee and guest safety. The Health and Safety page on their website is a resource to understand all of the practices they have in place regarding the health and safety of their employees and guests.

Grand Canyon Railway to the Grand Canyon South Rim

The Grand Canyon Railway runs daily from Williams, AZ on historic Rt. 66 to within steps of the Grand Canyon South Rim and El Tovar.  The pristine train, comprised of railcars from the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s, including luxury dome cars and an open platform observation car, as well as vintage coaches with opening windows, departs at 9:30 a.m. and returns at 5:45 p.m. with a 2.5-hour layover at South Rim of Grand Canyon. Assigned seating enables social distancing.

It is also possible to charter an entire luxury private railroad car or even an entire private train with luxury railroad cars complete with chefs, bartenders, and staff. These are ideal for “milestone” moments such as graduations, family reunions, anniversaries, weddings, birthdays, etc. For charters call 928-635-5700 or book online.

Note:  Given the ongoing and ever stricter guidelines from the CDC, WHO, as well as federal and state governments to limit gatherings, the difficult decision was made to cancel all motorcoach tours in Grand Canyon National Park through July 31, 2020. The impacted tours include the Grand, Freedom, and Arizona Sunset tours.

This decision was not easy and we recognize the significant impact on your travel plans, but we know that this is the responsible path forward to continue to help slow the spread of the disease.

We look forward to restarting our in-park motorcoach tours on August 1, 2020. {Source: Grand Canyon Railway}

    Thanks for sharing this, Priscilla. We are scrambling to find some domestic destinations these days, as we can’t travel internationally yet. I had no idea there is a railway in Grand Canyon. We’ll have to give it a try.
